HOTEL PORTOFINO
Series 2 & 3
The second season of Matt's first original series for TV, Hotel Portofino, aired in six-parts across PBS's TV network and its digital streaming platforms in the US in the last quarter of 2023. The third season, also written by Matt and starring Natasha McElhone as an Englishwoman running a hotel for upmarket travellers in 1920s Italy against the backdrop of the rise of Fascism, was filmed in Italy and Croatia in the second half of 2023 and will air internationally from the first quarter of 2024.
PATIENCE
Series 1
Matt is the lead writer on a new six-part crime procedural, Patience, which went into production in the third week in February. The series stars Laura Fraser (right) as Detective Inspector Bea Metcalf, who befriends a young autistic woman, Patience Evans, played by Ella Maisy Purvis (left). Patience works in the Police archives and the two women team up to startling effect. The series is set in Matt's home city of York and will film there and in Belgium across the first half of 2024. The series is being produced by Eagle Eye Drama in association with Happy Duck Films and in partnership with PBS Distribution and Beta Film.
